I think I’ll start at the end of the story
5 am and I’m writing this song.
Just words I’m not ready to write down,
“Once again yeah I got it all wrong…”

You left just a moment ago… and um
took with you that feeling of safe.
I really thought it’d be different this time…
I was foolish not to play your game.

I hope that you are telling the truth-
and you forgot every part of that night.
‘cause I swore that your eyes said you loved me;
at least, they were open this time.

and is this just what you do?
Step on hearts in hopes that you
will feel stronger by yourself;
and hurt whoever wants to help…

I won’t say I’m better off
because I knew what you would cost.
and I paid it anyway;
I guess we both get what we gave.

pretty eyes,
honest smile,
made me laugh,
no you’d never break my heart…

but you tried
to do right;
say you’re sorry,
but you won’t love me like I want.

and we’re still strangers.

only your own….if they’re anyone else’s then they become words, emotion, and action all at once…which is a very scary combination if you think about it.

"How are you?"

I hate you for hurting me; I wish you knew

I wish you would care, then I’d hurt you too

but instead I’m the girl whose doing “just great”

when you ask in that detached kind of way

but inside I feel like I’m gonna be sick.

and I wish you would stop me from lying again…

and I wish I could shake you, I wish I could shout

to tell you I’m trying to be what you want.

But I’m not what you want, and that’s just what you said

Well I wish you had told me before I said yes.

Except you never asked…and neither did I

and if one us had? well maybe that night-

I wouldn’t have loved you,

you wouldnt have stopped,

and maybe right now

I’d be breaking your heart.

-but instead I am crying and that’s how it goes

hearts will be broken and heads they will roll

and i will continue to teach what you’ve taught

we both hate the lesson but still pass it on.

Night Until Noon

if you’re looking for love…

your welcome to wait.

The room fills with gentleman

sitting all day,

and love-oh she promised

that she’d come back soon;

and grant each an audience

night until noon.

you see, she’s not here

she’s been gone for awhile;

her promise is nothing

they’ll put her on trial…

she’ll swear to the truth,

to give nothing but;

her hand on the bible

religious or not.

then if she claims

she committed the crime,

they’ll put her away

keep love from the light.

on that day of all days

when they separate the two,

all will discover

the secret she knew.

that love is a folly,

and light is her vice,

and neither know how

to save what is right.

nor will they tell us

that darkness is wrong,

for that is the true definition of love.

and so when you find her,

please give her this card:

on it her court time

it says 12 o’clock…
